BIOGRAPHY I live in the Tyne Valley and work from my studio at home, in a small village by the river. My work is inspired and informed by the natural world. I make close observational studies by drawing, painting and photography. I respond to my experiences in a range of media including oils, watercolour and relief printmaking. I enjoy working on a large and small scale with contrasting approaches, from expressive oil painting to carefully planned and detailed wood engraving. I initially studied Fine Art (Painting) at Newcastle University and then taught art and design in schools and further education. My research into pupil self-assessment in art and design led to an M.Phil in Education at Newcastle University. I worked as an Advisory Teacher in North Tyneside and Newcastle, and then as Inspector for Visual and Performing Arts for Durham County Council. In 2005 I completed an MA in Fine Art at Sunderland University. |
